I debated heavily and for a long time on what to do about this website when we got our fresh start, and my friends told me I better leave Lady of the Farm alone. I was picturing this guy screaming, "Leave Britney Alone!"
SOOO, I guess we are continuing on with the adventures of Lady of the Farm.
I just don't feel like the lady of the farm anymore, we are leaving the family farm and moving to a mini farm. Three acres which is our homestead. So technically we will have a bigger homestead, smaller farm. The farm is around 14 acres I believe.
We will be moving soon and I am so excited to start remodeling the house and creating a beautiful kitchen. I have been collecting items over time like oak flooring, an old farmhouse sink, butcher block counter tops and a few cabinets just waiting to see what we did as far as home wise.
We went through three different avenues for a home but with each one we hit a roadblock.
We had a 1937 farmhouse, couldn't get a mover willing to take the job on.
We tried to get a new singlewide, the mortgage company said they didn't understand farming income.
Then, we decided to build a mini barndominium, but we had a horrible year farming, and we already knew not to even ask the banker.
So, after a lot of praying, looking over finances, and quite a few tears, we decided to take our doublewide and turn it into the home we dreamed of.
Really and truly, my heart was sold on that farmhouse, and I had so many big plans for it, but no matter how much it felt right every time we walked through that door, it wasn't meant to be ours. I definitely cried over that house, like, a lot.
But now it's time to turn our 1997 doublewide into the "historic" country cottage I always dreamed of. I've already begun some painting just out of boredom while I wait on moving day. It's beautiful so far, I'll show you in another post.
In just a couple short weeks, you will be along for the ride for demolition days!
