Hershey Kiss Cookies: Grandma's Specialty

When I was younger my grandma used to host Christmas at her house and we'd all gather over there and sit around the living room waiting impatiently to open our gifts while everyone finished eating dinner. I was always the closest one to the gifts and always the most impatient. I'd shake the gifts to try to figure out what was inside. Of course, I'd be scolded and then I'd find my way to the dessert table to keep myself out of trouble.

Grandma used to make these "Hershey kiss cookies" as I called them. I'd always take the Hershey kiss off then eat the cookie last because that's just how it was. Anyway, I began craving them one day when I was thinking back on some memories from Christmases in the past. My mouth began to water and I just knew I had to find a recipe.

I went to my trusty sidekick, 'Google' and searched for "Hershey Kiss Cookies" and then the real name popped up, who would've known that they're actually called Peanut Butter Blossoms? That doesn't even sound right!

Anyway, here's an awesome recipe for these memory invoking cookies!

Ingredients:

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 cup creamy peanut butter

1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened

1 egg

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

3/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

About 36 Hershey kisses

Directions:

1: Heat oven to 375°F. In a large bowl, beat 1/2 cup granulated sugar, the brown sugar, peanut butter, butter and egg with electric mixer on medium speed, or mix with a spoon, until well blended. Stir in flour, baking soda, and baking powder until dough forms. 2: Shape dough into 1-inch balls; roll in additional granulated sugar. On ungreased cookie sheets, place about 2 inches apart. 3: Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are light golden brown. Immediately press 1 milk chocolate candy in center of each cookie. Remove from cookie sheets to cooling rack.
